Rockets' Terrence Jones to spend night in hospital after suffering rib injury

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

Rockets forward Terrence Jones will spend Thursday night in a Houston hospital to undergo tests for a rib injury he suffered in a win over the Denver Nuggets

Jones was hurt during the first quarter of the 118-108 win and left the contest shortly after. The team is already bracing for him to miss some time.

"I think Terrence will be done for a little bit," Rockets head coach Kevin McHale said. "He's sore."

Jones initially remained in the game, but eventually pulled himself out and went to the locker room. He finished with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting in just nine minutes of action. He was reportedly seen leaving the Toyota Center on a stretcher.

Jones, who missed 41 straight games with nerve inflammation in his left leg, has been a welcome frontcourt presence since returning at the end of January.

Helping to patch up the void left by the long-injured Dwight Howard, Jones is averaging career-highs in minutes (28.3), points (12.5), rebounds (7.5) and blocks (1.7) across 24 games.
