Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin left Saturday's game against the Boston Bruins early in the first period due to injury.
Malkin took a hit along the boards from Bruins forward Chris Kelly and left for the dressing room. He returned to the game later in the first period, but was not on the bench to start the second.
Head coach Mike Johnston offered the following non-update following Pittsburgh's 2-0 loss.
Coach Johnston: “Geno was hit during the game. He tried to come back after that and he couldn’t."
