Giants sign Tom Coughlin to 1-year contract extension

Tom Coughlin could be coaching at the age of 70.
The New York Giants have announced a contract extension for their head coach, that runs through the 2016 season.
Coughlin turns 69 in August and would be 70 if he remains coach in 2016.
That's a big if, though, as this is a make or break year for Coughlin. After three straight seasons of missing the playoffs, he likely will be let go if the Giants don't get back there this year.
New York is known for not letting their coaches twist in the wind during the final year of their deals, so this extension could be nothing more than a formality.
