Report: Saints quietly shopping Junior Galette

Derick E. Hingle / USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints have quietly been looking for potential trade partners for linebacker Junior Galette, according to Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports.

Galette is entering the second season of a four-year, $41.5-million deal he signed with the Saints in September. Getlin reports that because of Galette's cap number and off-field concerns, it's unlikely the Saints will be able to move him.

Galette was booked on charges of domestic violence and simple battery in January after a woman accused him of pushing her to the ground at his home. The charges were dismissed, but Galette is also involved in a civil lawsuit filed by the same woman accusing him of subjecting her to false imprisonment, human trafficking, rape and other forms of physical and mental abuse.

Galette's fully guaranteed roster bonus of $12.5 million takes effect March 12, so if the Saints do decide to trade or release the linebacker, a move will likely come in the next week.
