Report: NCAA goalie O'Connor being promised playing time amid rampant interest

Beanpot-winning goalie Matt O'Connor is causing quite a stir around the NHL.

The Boston University player, who led his team to victory in the four-team tournament final on Tuesday, is drawing interest from several corners of the hockey world, and could suit up for an NHL club as early as this season.

Darren Dreger of TSN reports:

14 NHL clubs have expressed interest in signing the 23 year old college free agent and as many as five teams are promising NHL playing time this season if O'Connor chooses to sign at the end of his college season.

Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary are all believed to be keenly interested in signing the the undrafted 6'5" goalie, while Buffalo and Phoenix are also considered to be contenders on the list of 14 as well.  

In 25 games for BU this season, O'Connor has posted a record of 17-3-4 with a save percentage of .929.
