VIDEO: Byron Jones obliterates broad jump record

The NFL needs to re-evaluate how it measures the broad jump at the scouting combine, because Connecticut cornerback Byron Jones just jumped so far, he landed off the grid:

Jones's jump was measured at 12-foot-3, a full eight inches better than the previous record in the event (set by New England Patriots linebacker Jamie Collins in 2013).

Jones followed his record-setting broad jump with a 44.5-inch vertical jump, only half an inch short of the record. 

So yeah, he's pretty good at jumping. 

NFL players are never required to jump from a stationary position during games, of course, so Jones's incredible combine performance won't guarantee him a long and successful career. 

It sure won't hurt, though. That's a level of explosiveness that's truly rare.
