Conley's tour-de-force performance at the NFL Scouting Combine was arguably the best story Saturday. Conley led all wide receivers in the broad jump and ran a blazing 4.35 40-yard dash. Although the Georgia wide receiver was considered a late-round pick at best, a team may take a gamble on him after a series of outstanding performances.

Strong and Coates - considered by many to be prospective first-round selections - wooed scouts with excellent verticals. Strong and Coates' explosion may have alluded to an ability to separate from cornerbacks while fighting for the ball, and could approach the podium on the first day of the draft.

Other Notable Performances

  • Amari Cooper, Alabama - 33"
  • Dorial Green-Beckham, Missouri - 33.5"

Cooper is considered by many to be the top wide receiver prospect available, and many view him as a top-10 selection. However, Cooper's vertical was underwhelming and his ability to separate from defensive backs may have been overrated entering the combine.

Green-Beckham put together an impressive 4.49 40-yard dash and wooed scouts with his physical measurements, leading many to compare him to Calvin Johnson. Green-Beckham could overpower a number of defenders with his size, but his unimpressive vertical may cause some teams to hesitate on using a high first-round pick on him.

Six wide receivers jumped over 40-inches. Five of those would finish in the top-10 all time for verticals at the position. Aberration, or faulty testing?
