Ron Schwane / USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer took full responsibility for his role in the Browns' texting scandal and apologized to team owner Jimmy Haslam, his coaching staff and the team's fans while addressing the media at the NFL Scouting Combine on Thursday.

Farmer was asked if he knew he was breaking NFL rules by texting coaches during games.

"Sometimes your emotions get the best of you," he responded.

Farmer insisted his relationship with head coach Mike Pettine is strong.

"There's no need to mend fences with Mike Pettine," Farmer said. "We work close together."

Likewise, Farmer said he doesn't view the Browns as a dysfunctional organization.

"I would describe our organization as a healthy one," Farmer asserted.
