Magic to keep interim coach James Borrego through the season

One in-season coaching change was apparently enough for the Orlando Magic.

The Magic will retain interim head coach James Borrego for the remainder of the season, the team announced Tuesday.

An earlier report from Marc Stein of ESPN said the Magic intend to search for a permanent replacement. That process will likely play out during the offseason.

Borrego took over following former head coach Jacque Vaughn's dismissal late in January. In the four games since, he's guided his team to a 2-2 record.

The Magic sit seven games back of the Miami Heat for the eighth playoff seed in the Eastern Conference. While there's still an outside chance at a late push, the reality is there are only 26 games remaining for Orlando. It's all about player development going forward, and the team appears confident in Borrego's ability to mold the Magic's young prospects.
