Tyler Seguin expected to be out 3-6 weeks after hit by Panthers' Kulikov
Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin is expected to be out three-to-six weeks following a dangerous hit by Florida Panthers defenseman Dmitry Kulikov on Friday, the team has confirmed.
Seguin was the victim of a low bridge by Kulikov, who was given a five-minute major for clipping and a 10-minute game misconduct.
"It looks like he will miss some time," head coach Lindy Ruff told Mike Heika of the Dallas News after the game, calling the play a "a dirty shot."
Ruff added he's expecting the league to act swiftly with supplemental discipline.
"It’s just something that you end up taking your best player out of the game," Ruff said. "Not only out of the game, but he’s taken him out of the lineup for a little bit for us. We’ll let the league deal with it. I used to yell and scream about it, but it doesn't do any good. It’s just a shot that didn't need to happen."
Not surprisingly, the NHL Department of Player Safety has offered an in-person hearing to Kulikov.
Seguin is third in the NHL with both 59 points and 29 goals.
