Barkley fires back at Rockets GM Morey, goes off on analytics

Charles Barkley is a beloved Hall-of-Famer who has transitioned seamlessly from providing on-court entertainment to off-court entertainment.

But entertainer and analyst are two very different things and The Round Mound of Rebound often falls embarrassingly short as an analyst.

Case in point, during TNT's broadcast of Rockets-Suns on Tuesday, Barkley referred to the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns as the two worst defensive teams in the NBA.

The Rockets, including general manager Daryl Morey, responded appropriately.

The Rockets went on to earn a 127-118 victory over the Suns and when TNT's doubleheader ended, Barkley was asked how he felt about Morey's tweet.

"I'm not worried about Daryl Morey, he's one of those idiots who believes in analytics," Barkley stated on the postgame panel. "I wouldn't know Daryl Morey if he walked in this room right now."

Barkley wasn't done there, deciding to delve deeper into his thoughts on analytics. It's a subject Barkley has discussed in the past, but on Tuesday he held very little back.

"Analytics don't work at all. It's just some crap some people who were really smart made up to try to get in the game cause they had no talent," said Barkley.

"All these guys who run these organizations who talk about analytics, they have one thing in common, they're a bunch of guys who ain't never played the game and they never got the girls in high school, and they just want to get in the game," he added.

The ball is in your court Mr. Morey.
