Lakers' Price thinks he has broken nose, likely to join Davis in mask

Steve Dykes-USA TODAY Sports

At 11-24, this season has been quite the figurative punch in the face for the Los Angeles Lakers.

It has also included several literal shots to the face for the team's players. Less than a week after teammate Ed Davis took a shot to the nose and was forced to wear a protective mask, point guard Ronnie Price finds himself in need of a facial shield, too.

Price took an elbow to the face from Thomas Robinson on Monday, opening up a cut that required 11 stitches to close. Price will see a specialist on Tuesday to confirm, but he said Monday that he's confident his nose is broken.

"We'll see how it goes, but he'll probably have to wear a mask," head coach Byron Scott said. "I think he'll be OK for Wednesday."

Like Daivs, Price said he would prefer not to wear a mask, but that's not really his call if the specialist deems it necessary. And hey, it wasn't a terrible look for Davis:

In 34 games this season, Price is averaging 5.5 points and 3.6 assists in 22.6 minutes but shooting an unsightly 37.4 percent from the floor. If he can't go Wednesday, the Lakers would likely start Jeremy Lin once again, but Kobe Bryant starting at the point isn't entirely out of the question.
