Scott Boras: Johnny Damon would 'love to come back'

Scott Boras has spent the first two months of the offseason looking for a team willing to take a chance on left-hander Barry Zito, who's trying to make a comeback after missing the entire 2014 campaign.

Zito, however, isn't the only one of Boras's clients eager to revive his baseball career after an extended hiatus from the game.

Johnny Damon, the two-time All-Star who spent 18 seasons in the majors, never announced his retirement after being released by the Cleveland Indians in August of 2012 and would relish the opportunity to play again.

"If you ask Johnny, he'd love to come back," Boras told Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

Despite turning 41 in November, Damon suggested in July that he "outhit at least half the league" and mentioned that he has kept his body in playing shape. Damon currently sits just 231 hits shy of 3,000, though he managed a paltry .222/.281/.329 line (72 OPS+) with the Indians in 2012.
