Pelicans' Gordon out indefinitely with torn labrum
Eric Gordon just cannot stay healthy.
The New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard has been ruled out indefinitely after an MRI on his separated left shoulder revealed a torn labrum, the team announced Monday.
Gordon suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday's win over the Utah Jazz.
"Gordon will undergo further evaluation throughout this week by the team's medical staff to determine the best course of action moving forward," the Pelicans said in a release.
Gordon hasn't cracked the 65-game mark in a season since his rookie year in 2008-09, missing 161 games over the previous five seasons with an assortment of injuries.
The 25-year-old's season was off to a disappointing start, as Gordon was posting career lows in scoring (9.5 points per game), assists (2.0 per game) and field goal percentage (39.8).
The Pelicans are not a deep team and can't afford a significant injury in the unforgiving Western Conference, but based on Gordon's play to begin the season, they also won't be missing much.
The Pelicans are 18 points better per 100 possessions with Anthony Davis on and Gordon off than with both on.
