Seahawks' Lynch fined total of $100K for not talking to media

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch spoke with NFL Media's Mike Silver following Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but that doesn't appear to have been enough for him to avoid punishment from the league office.

The NFL confirmed Wednesday they fined Lynch $50,000 for violating media policy by not talking to reporters after the game, and will also collect the $50,000 held from last year's violations that was contingent upon his future cooperation, ESPN's Ed Werder reported.

Lynch is thus penalized the recently-threatened total of $100,000, indicating the league indeed remains serious about the Seahawks star fulfilling his media obligations despite his resistance.

According to the NFL's media policy:

"Star players, or other players with unusually heavy media demands, must be available to the media that regularly cover their teams at least once during the practice week in addition to their required postgame media availability."
