The academic scandal rocking the University of North Carolina won't go away.

UNC players from the 2004-05 men's basketball championship team accounted for 35 enrollments in bogus classes that awarded high grades to school athletes over two semesters, reports Dan Kane of the News & Observer of Raleigh.

The grades were given out by Deborah Crowder, a key figure in the scandal. Crowder has admitted to assigning high grades without reading the students' work in order to maintain the athletes' playing eligibility.

Of the 35 classes, also referred to as paper classes, nine came during the fall semester of 2004, which is when eligibility for the spring was determined. The remaining came during the spring semester in 2005.

Athletic director Bubba Cunningham said the NCAA is reviewing athlete transcripts as part of the investigation, according to Kane.

The scandal is the latest in a series to hit UNC. Read the stack below for more information.
