Sim Bhullar lands with Kings' D-League affiliate in Reno

Sim Bhullar may still be a ways away from becoming the first NBA player of Indian descent, but he won't be far removed from the Sacramento Kings organization this season.

The Kings have assigned the 7-foot-5, 355-pound Bhullar to the Reno Bighorns of the D-League, their exclusive affiliate. There, Bhullar will be subject to coaching and development as dictated by the Kings organization, and likely receive plenty of playing time to push him along the basketball learning curve.

NBA teams can assign as many as four affiliate players that they've waived to a D-League team, though most don't make full use of the opportunity. While assigned as an affiliate player, Bhullar can still be signed by any of the NBA's 29 other teams.

The Bighorns promise to be an interesting team this season. They're on record as wanting to experiment, and slotting what would be the league's largest player at the pivot position speaks to that goal.
