Sharks forgo captain; name Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski, Vlasic alternate captains
The San Jose Sharks took the ice for warm-ups prior to their season opener with four players wearing letters - no C's, though.
Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski, and Marc-Edouard Vlasic will serve as alternate captains for the Sharks, who begin the season without a captain. Thornton, Marleau, and Pavelski will be everyday associate captains, while Vlasic will only wear the A during certain games.

Logan Couture was rumored to be in the running for a letter on his jersey, but the 25-year-old was left out in favor of the veterans, including two former Sharks captains in Thornton and Marleau.
