Rumors that Brooklyn Nets ownership are looking to sell off a portion of their assets have quickly evolved into reports of an expected straight sale of the franchise.

Owner Mikhail Prokhorov is reportedly "actively looking to cash out," of his shares according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.

NetsDaily reported earlier in the day that the Nets are looking to combine assets with Guggenheim Partners, who previously purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Prokhorov paid $223 million to buy the Nets in 2010, and his controlling interest in the team combined with his stake in the brand new Barclays Center is estimated to be worth nearly $2 billion.
