Matt Bonner plans on playing until he's 40 years old

Matt Bonner recently re-signed with the San Antonio Spurs, meaning he'll be back with the reigning NBA champions for at least another season.

But it likely won't be his last.

In an interview with Basket USA, Bonner, who turns 35 in April, indicated he might have another six seasons left in the tank.

"I plan to play as long as possible," Bonner said. "Up to 40 years old, that would be great! I will take it year by year and see if the team needs me and if I'm still healthy enough to play."

The 2013-14 season saw the red-haired Florida product average a career-low 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds over a career-low 11.3 minutes per game. But while his reduced role during the Spurs' championship campaign shouldn't come as much of a surprise given his age, his new deal with the franchise indicates San Antonio is happy to have him on the fringes of their rotation.
