Bruins GM Chiarelli has 'no plans' to trade Marchand

Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli has made a statement in regards to forward Brad Marchand's trade availability - again.

With rumors floating around Twitter that the Bruins were in talks to move Marchand to San Jose in a deal involving Patrick Marleau, Chiarelli told DJ Bean of WEEI “€œI have had no discussions for Marchand and I have no plans to trade him,” adding "I don’€™t make it a practice to respond to reports in the social media, but occasionally it is necessary.”

Marchand has three years left on a four-year, $18 million contract that includes a modified no-trade clause; his $4.5-million cap hit is fourth among Bruins forwards and sixth among Bruins players.

Despite his propensity to get carried away in terms of on-ice shenanigans - an issue Chiarelli also addressed in the past - that's decent value for a player who averaged 23 goals and 46 points over the past four seasons.
