Report: 7-foot-5 New Mexico State center Sim Bhullar to enter NBA draft

Well, this is a surprise, and potentially a costly one at that.

According to multiple reports, New Mexico State sophomore Sim Bhullar is leaving college to enter the NBA Draft.

Bhullar is a 7-foot-5 Canadian center and, really, that's all you need to know. He's 7-foot-5, 355-pounds and he can walk without tripping over his own two feet, so NBA teams are going to be interested. What's more, he blocked 3.4 shots a game in just 26.3 minutes for the Aggies this season, adding 10.4 points and 7.8 rebounds.

The issue is that he's not at all athletic, but a player that huge is sure to alter games, at both ends, regardless of skill level or athleticism. The size is tantalizing enough that a team is probably going to take a second-round gamble on him, even though ESPN ranks him as the No. 213 prospect and DraftExpress ranks him just 75th among sophomores.

He should probably be staying at school for additional seasoning, because his game and conditioning could use it. However, it's possible that Bhullar's camp knows that scouts will salivate over the size regardless, so he's at a lower risk of going undrafted.

His 7-foot-3 brother, Tanveer Bhullar, is reportedly expected to remain at the school, possibly benefiting from his brother's absence by way of additional playing time in his upcoming sophomore season.
