P.J. Hairston doesn't want you sleeping on him, drops 22 in D-League debut
Suspended from his UNC team for the season, P.J. Hairston recently decided to take his talents to the D-League.
It's a smart move - Hairston is almost a lock to be drafted this summer and the D-League has proven an effective auditioning ground for a handful of other players for whom college ball wasn't working out.
The Texas Legends were able to claim Hairston through the league's waiver process, and through a game it appears to have been a pretty prudent addition.
Hairston made his debut on Saturday, dropping 22 points in 28 minutes off the bench in a 109-99 Legends victory. The 21-year-old shot 9-of-16 overall and 4-of-9 from long range, adding a ridiculous six steals for good measure.
Sure, he had just a single rebound, a single assist and four turnovers, but this is a pretty impressive debut nonetheless.
Hairtson is currently ranked as the 2014 draft's No. 34 prospect by ESPN, ninth among two-guards, while DraftExpress has him 28th, just inside the first round bubble.
