J.R. Smith on balancing nightlife: 'I wasn't last year'

New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith appeared on Fox Sports' Crowd Goes Wild on Thursday.

At one point, Smith was asked if he "goes out" more or less than he did when he was younger. In his response, Smith was pretty clear that he didn't do a good job  of managing that aspect of being a pro last season.

"I'm balancing it better now, I wasn't last year. I'm balancing it a lot better, I'm growing up," said Smith. "Every day is totally different in New York City, believe it or not. You get so many opportunities to do so many different things. It's hard to say no to some of them, but then again it's easy to say no to some."

Smith has a bit of a reputation for going out, known for tweeting at extremely late hours and playing poorly for early-afternoon tip-offs in the past. He also occasionally takes 17 threes in a game, leading some to think he has hit the club before the game.
