Saints were interested in Mahomes at No. 11, says golfer Ryan Palmer
The Kansas City Chiefs might have traded up just in time to select Patrick Mahomes on Thursday night.
By giving up the 27th overall pick, a 2017 third-round pick, and a 2018 first-round pick to get the No. 10 selection, the Chiefs moved just ahead of the New Orleans Saints - who were "really big into Mahomes," PGA golfer Ryan Palmer said Friday.
Palmer was in the Saints' draft room Thursday night along with fellow golfer Jordan Spieth. The PGA stars are friends with head coach Sean Payton, and were in New Orleans for the Zurich Classic.
The Saints shouldn't be too disappointed, as they ended up filling a need with projected top-10 cornerback Marshon Lattimore.
Prior to Palmer's scoop, many assumed the Chiefs had traded up to pass the Arizona Cardinals - who'd expressed in taking a quarterback, but ultimately took a defensive player as well in linebacker Haason Reddick.
