Manchester City received a massive boost ahead of Thursday's derby with news that Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus could feature against Manchester United after overcoming their respective injuries.

Aguero was a doubt after leaving Sunday's FA Cup semi-final loss to Arsenal with an injury scare before quickly recovering, while Jesus has a chance to appear in his first match after spending three months on the sidelines with a fractured metatarsal.

David Silva is the most significant injury doubt ahead of the Manchester derby, according to manager Pep Guardiola, after the Spaniard was forced to leave Sunday's FA Cup semi-final in the first half with an undisclosed injury.

"David Silva real, real doubt - I don't know if he will be ready to play after what happened in the first minutes in the semi-final,” Guardiola told reporters, according to the team's website.

"Gabriel has no pain at all so is ready but (after) three months out his physical condition is not optimal.

"Sergio is much better. Today he make a part of the training session. Tomorrow he will be ready."

Meanwhile, United will be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, after the Swedish forward was ruled out for the season with a serious knee injury. City's odds of coming away with a positive result could be further boosted with news that Paul Pogba will not feature Wednesday due to an undisclosed injury.

The city rivals are separated by a point in the standings, with United looking to leapfrog City and jump into fourth place.

City was victorious after securing a 2-1 victory in the season's first Manchester derby in September, while United claimed a 1-0 victory in the League Cup in October.
