Here is a look at the Squad Up daily MLB fantasy picture for the seven-game slate beginning at 3:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 23:

Hitter Stacks

  • Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants (RHP Jeff Samardzija): The Rockies have hung 18 runs on the Giants through the first two games of this series. Samardzija enters this start with a 6.16 ERA and having just faced the Rockies on April 16. The long-haired hurler had a 1.34 HR/9 away from San Fran last year and started the season by serving up three bombs in Arizona.

3-player stack: 3B Nolan Arenado (65K), DJ LeMahieu (51K), OF Charlie Blackmon (59K)

  • Los Angeles Dodgers at Arizona Diamondbacks (RHP Shelby Miller): Miller is another home-run prone pitcher to target. His HR/9 at home last season sat at a frightening 1.72. Though Miller has been better to start this season, two of his starts have been on the road. Through the first two games of this series, the teams have combined for 34 runs.

2-player stack: SS Corey Seager (62K), OF Yasiel Puig (50K)

Pitcher Breakdown

  • TARGET - RHP Marcus Stroman (34K), Blue Jays (at Angels): Though the Jays been abysmal to open the season, Stroman is far too reliable to be the cheapest pitcher on the evening slate. Boston roughed him up in his last start, but Stroman's first two starts entailed two quality starts and a 1.76 ERA. He's a must start at this price.
  • FADE - RHP Jeff Samardzija (63K), Giants (at Rockies): With the Rockies offense on a tear, there is little reason to test your fate by drafting Samardzija. There is potential here with Samardzija having induced at least seven strikeouts in each of his three starts, but that's not enough with a potential blowup in the cards. Wait for his next start at home.

Bargain Plays

  • 1B Mark Reynolds (42K), Rockies (vs. Giants): Reynolds knocked his fifth homer of the year Saturday night. His past two games have been particularly strong, with Reynolds going 5-for-7. His hot start isn't over just yet. Now batting fifth for the Rockies, there is great protection around him.
  • OF Yasmany Tomas (44K), Diamondbacks (vs. Dodgers): Tomas is a touch more expensive than the desired bargain play, but he is likely worth the increased investment. He hit a pair of homers Saturday night, giving him three bombs and eight RBIs over his past four games. If the runs continue to flow in this series, Tomas will be involved.

Top Fades

  • C Jonathan Lucroy (47K), Rangers (vs. Royals): It has been a rough start to Lucroy's first full year with the Rangers. He is hitting a meager .184 and has been moved down to seventh in the order for his past two starts. Lucroy has just one home run and four RBI despite the strength of Texas' lineup and their beneficial home ballpark.
  • OF Joc Pederson (61K), Dodgers (at Diamondbacks): Pederson is a name that should be left off your L.A. stack. Despite mashing 25 homers last year, the powerful 25-year-old has just one bomb this season. His strikeout rate is up to 32.7 percent, so he could be a potential victim for Miller.

Contrarian Plays

  • SS Trea Turner (51K), Nationals (at Mets): Turner went 2-for-5 with a RBI and run scored in his first game with a full slate of at-bats since returning from injury. It was impressive return for the youngster who started the season slowly. With his speed, Turner has big-time potential despite being fresh off the DL.
  • OF Yasiel Puig (50K), Dodgers (at Diamondbacks): Puig is just 3-for-24 over his past six games. The allure of his pedigree continues to fall as the highlight plays continue to slow. But the temptation against Miller remains notable. Puig leads the Dodgers with four homers and has seen his walk and strikeouts rates trend in positive directions this season.
