PSG's Emery knows nothing of Monchi links

Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery has conceded that he is unaware of a possible reunion in the French capital with highly touted sporting director Monchi.

Football's hottest backroom commodity, Monchi recently confirmed that he's leaving Sevilla at the end of the season, prompting talk of a move to one of the continent's marquee sides.

Naturally, Monchi, who is in his 17th season with the Andalusians, and Emery, who in three years with Sevilla led the club to three Europa League titles on the trot, have been linked with a second spell together at PSG.

If that is the case, Emery is rather proficient at playing dumb.

"I know nothing about these things - I am only thinking as far ahead as the next match," Emery told reporters, per ESPN FC, ahead of Sunday's visit from Guingamp.

"We already have a sporting director though."

PSG's current sporting director, former Dutch international striker Patrick Kluivert, is in his first season with the club, and appears to be settling in well amid his first spell as an administrator.

Regardless of Kluivert's standing, Monchi's efforts at Sevilla, including the discoveries of Jesus Navas, Jose Antonio Reyes, and Sergio Ramos and the shrewd sales of Dani Alves and Ivan Rakitic, have placed the former shot-stopper atop a pedestal of footballing talent scouts that has Europe's biggest clubs foaming at the mouth.

And despite Monchi's quotes linking him with a summer switch to Roma, whose sporting director, Walter Sabatini, stepped down in October, a PSG reunion seems to make sense considering chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi's well-reported lofty ambitions.

Still, Emery knows nothing of it, adding, "Newspapers say a lot of things but that is normal when you are a club of PSG's size."
