Referees absurdly take over national title game, Twitter revolts
Death, taxes, officials screwing up a sporting event.
The national championship game between North Carolina and Gonzaga got off to a promising start, but the referees did just about everything they could to mess it up in the second half with one bad call after another.
It began early in the second frame, when the officials allowed Gonzaga's Przemek Karnowski to travel halfway across the world without blowing a whistle.

They decided to call anything and everything a foul from that point on, including this pivotal fourth foul on Bulldogs forward Zach Collins.

Later, they assessed a personal foul on North Carolina's Joel Berry, who was yanked by Karnowski while innocently chasing a loose ball. Karnowski was given a flagrant foul upon review, even though he never received a personal foul. The foul on Berry stood.
