Kansas thinks it has the next Myles Garrett

Former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett has been tabbed as a top-five pick since his Texas A&M career started in 2014, taking over for 2014 first overall pick Jadeveon Clowney as the premier college edge rusher, oozing with athleticism.

With Garrett about to join Clowney in the NFL, possibly going first overall in April's draft, college football needs to anoint a new premier edge rusher - but Kansas head coach David Beaty doesn't suggest looking to the SEC again.

Dorance Armstrong Jr., the Jayhawks' star defensive end, led the Big 12 in tackles for loss (20) in 2016 while adding 10 sacks, all despite a knee injury that limited him during the first month of the season.

"Dorance is a stud. The fact that he didn't make All-American last year was shocking to me," Beaty said, according to Mitch Sherman of ESPN. "He got robbed. (He) is unbelievable. He's a freak. He is Myles Garrett, and Myles is a freak. This guy's a beast."

Beaty isn't necessarily just biased by his Kansas gig - he actually recruited Garrett to Texas A&M.

"We don't get hung up on it," Beatty said of comparisons between Garrett and Armstrong, "but he's that type of player."

Clowney and Garrett backed up their reputations once they were in the spotlight. Now it's Armstrong's turn to live up to his coach's lofty expectations.
