Dempsey scores on USMNT return in emphatic fashion
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports
Clint Dempsey hasn't suited up for the United States since June of 2016, but he made his return to the national team fold in emphatic fashion, scoring a third goal over Honduras just after the half-hour mark.
The Seattle Sounders star had been sidelined with heart problems for the second half of 2016, but made his first start in Bruce Arena's first competitive match, starting alongside his longtime strike partner Jozy Altidore.
The U.S. sits last in the CONCACAF hex round, but could spring up to fourth with a win over Honduras.
