Report: Packers passed on meeting with Peterson
The Green Bay Packers considered meeting with free agent Adrian Peterson, but ultimately passed on hosting the veteran running back, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Fowler's sources added that Peterson remains on the market because his contract demands are "too high."
ESPN's Ben Goessling reported Tuesday that Green Bay is interested in Peterson, but intends to wait until after the draft so it can fully evaluate its roster.
The Packers lost Eddie Lacy in free agency, and will need to add another body to a backfield that has just two proven players in Ty Montgomery and Christine Michael. However, adding a likely expensive option in Peterson, who might struggle to play within the Packers' scheme, doesn't exactly fit Green Bay's philosophy.
Peterson's market has not been strong since his release from the Minnesota Vikings this offseason, so it's possible the former NFL MVP will still be available after April's draft - and potentially at a lower price.
