Bellator MMA

A lightweight title fight between Michael Chandler and Brent Primus has been added to Bellator's upcoming pay-per-view from Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 24.

Chandler will go for his fourth successful title defense when he faces Primus at Bellator: NYC, according to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani, citing sources.

Chandler, 13-3 inside the Bellator cage, is in his second reign as the promotion's lightweight champion, having knocked out Patricky Freire to win the belt in June. He followed that up with a thrilling five-round split decision win over former UFC champ Benson Henderson.

The 31-year-old Primus only has seven professional fights under his belt, but has impressed with an undefeated record that includes five victories for Bellator. He last fought in April, defeating Gleristone Santos by split decision.

Bellator: NYC will be the promotion's second foray into PPV and its first since May 2014. The five-fight card will follow the Bellator 180 event on the same day, which will air on Spike TV, according to MMAjunkie's Steven Marrocco.

Middleweights Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva are booked to headline the PPV portion of the event, while heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko is expected to make his Bellator debut against Matt Mitrione.
