Foles returns to Eagles on 2-year deal

Former Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Nick Foles will return to the team on a two-year deal, the team announced.

The move reunites Foles with Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, who was the Eagles' quarterbacks coach in 2012 when Foles was drafted by the team.

Foles played 13 games for Chip Kelly's Eagles in 2013, throwing 27 touchdowns to just two interceptions, but struggled the following season and was traded to the St. Louis Rams for Sam Bradford in early 2015.

Foles spent last season as a backup quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now back in Philadelphia, Foles will back up sophomore passer Carson Wentz.

The signing throws Chase Daniel's future with the Eagles into question. The Eagles don't seem eager to pay Daniel $7 million to be a backup and have made it clear he is available via trade. It's possible Foles' signing means Daniel will be released.
