Aldon Smith detained after traffic incident with police cruiser
Suspended Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith was detained following a traffic incident Thursday in San Francisco, police told KTVU.
Smith was a passenger in a vehicle that struck a police cruiser, authorities said, resulting in two police officers being taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, Smith was detained for public intoxication, but won't be charged.
Reporters caught up with Smith once he was released by police.

The driver, a 25-year-old woman, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The linebacker hasn't played since Week 9 of the 2015 season and applied for reinstatement from his indefinite suspension in November. The NFL deferred a decision on his case until mid-March.
It's unclear whether Thursday's collision, or the fact Smith's reportedly under investigation for an alleged domestic incident, will impact his chances of being cleared to play.
