Jerry Jones: 'There is just nothing' to Elliott assault allegations

While the NFL has yet to announce a verdict in its investigation of Ezekiel Elliott's assault allegations, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is certain his star running back is clear of any trouble.

Jones said Saturday that he has heard nothing new about the investigation, and believes if there was any truth to the allegations, he would have heard something by now.

"There is just nothing," Jones said, according to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. "I know I would have heard about it. I would have the information if there were something. I know that."

After his rookie season ended, Elliott said he would like some closure from the league on the situation. He has claimed since Day 1 that he has done nothing wrong, and shared all the information he had with the Cowboys last summer.

"Absolutely nothing anywhere that indicates anything other than what they told us when we left training camp," Jones said, "and that is that they have no cause."

Elliott's accuser never filed official charges after making her allegations, but the league can still discipline the young running back if they find it necessary following its investigation. The league reportedly was still seeking more information on the allegation in mid January.
