Report: Rockets finalizing deal to acquire Lou Williams from Lakers

It didn't take long for Magic Johnson to make his first move as the president of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The team is finalizing a trade to send veteran guard Lou Williams to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Corey Brewer and a future first-round pick, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Johnson took over as team president Tuesday afternoon and said the majority of calls he's fielded from other clubs were about Williams. Other teams reportedly interested in the former Sixth Man of the Year's services include the Charlotte Hornets, Utah Jazz, and Washington Wizards.

The Rockets apparently won the bidding war with Brewer and the pick, which is believed to be an unprotected first-rounder in June's draft.

Williams leads the Lakers in scoring with 18.6 points and 3.2 assists while shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from long range in his 12th campaign. He's due $7 million next year.

The 30-year-old will give the third-place Rockets even more firepower off the bench in coach Mike D'Antoni's free-flowing, fast-paced offense. The team already features Sixth Man of the Year contender Eric Gordon, who won the 3-point shootout this past weekend in New Orleans.

Meanwhile, Brewer's averaging 4.2 points and two boards in 16 minutes per game this season. He has a year left on his deal, and is owed $7.6 million in 2017-18.
