Red Wings add Ilitch patch to jersey

He won't be forgotten.
Mike Ilitch, the longtime owner of the Detroit Red Wings who died Friday at 87, will be recognized with a commemorative patch on the team's uniform.
The patch reads "Mr. I" - the nickname of the Detroit native who owned the club since 1982.
In September, the Red Wings also added a "No. 9" patch to the front of their jersey in recognition of Detroit legend Gordie Howe, who died in June.
