It took some meddling from the NBA, but it appears James Dolan and Charles Oakley have patched up their strained relationship.

Commissioner Adam Silver met with the two Monday at the league office in New York, while Michael Jordan participated by phone in an effort to help end the feud between the New York Knicks owner and former player.

"Both Mr. Oakley and Mr. Dolan were apologetic about the incident and subsequent comments, and their negative impact on the Knicks organization and the NBA," Silver said in a statement issued Monday. "Mr. Dolan expressed his hope that Mr. Oakley would return to MSG as his guest in the near future."

Oakley was banned from Madison Square Garden last week after he was forcible removed from Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers and subsequently arrested. Dolan said Friday the ban will be lifted once the retired player gets control of his "personality problems."

Dolan suggested Oakley battled with alcoholism, which the Knicks legend denied and may take legal action against.

The commissioner called the fiasco "beyond disheartening."

Leave it to Silver and the GOAT to take care of this mess.
