Watch: Jacare overwhelms Boetsch with 1st-round submission

Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza almost took Tim Boetsch's arm home with him, and in doing so he may have cemented his claim to the No. 1 contender spot in the middleweight division.

The 37-year-old Brazilian forced Boetsch to tap out to a scary looking kimura lock in their middleweight bout at UFC 208 in Brooklyn on Saturday. Once Jacare (Portuguese for "alligator") got the fight to the mat, he lived up to his nickname by crawling all the way into full mount before locking in the submission 3:41 into the opening round.

It was the 10th win for Jacare in his last 11 fights, with the lone blemish in that stretch being a close split decision loss to fellow contender Yoel Romero. Post-fight, Souza called for matchups with either 185-pound champion Michael Bisping or Luke Rockhold.

Boetsch fell to 11-10 in the UFC after submitting to a kimura for the third time in his career. He reportedly heads into free agency with four losses in his past six appearances.
