Klopp: 'We will and have to take all the criticism' after defeat at Hull

Liverpool's slump hit another low Saturday at KCOM Stadium, and Jurgen Klopp knows the Reds deserve to be lambasted.

Speaking after Liverpool's title hopes were deflated by a 2-0 defeat at Hull City, Klopp admitted the Reds' "mood" was wrong from the get-go and opened the Merseyside club up to criticism. Klopp's side holds only one victory through its first 10 fixtures in all competitions in 2017, and is 13 points behind top-of-the-standings Chelsea in the Premier League.

"I don't think it's an attitude but all football performances are mixtures of everything - confidence, attitude, passion, readiness," Klopp said, according to the Guardian's Andy Hunter. "It is not the first time in the season that we put ourselves under pressure. We showed a reaction in the second half and put them under pressure but if we had won 2-1 I would still be angry about the first half.

"I am interested in the performance. I am interested in the result too, but I am interested in the performance because you can build on a performance. We will and have to take all the criticism.

"We have to take everything. If you see it like this (a question of attitude), I can understand. I don't want to give the answer now because I don't think so but from outside, it looks so, I can understand. We have the record we have against these teams and the record against the other teams. I know the boys, they don't show any difference during the week, but we have to show an answer, not give an answer. We produce our problems most of the times by ourselves and we did that again today."

In January, Liverpool required a replay to defeat Plymouth Argyle before being knocked out of the FA Cup by Wolverhampton Wanderers, suffered defeat at home to Swansea City, was knocked out of the EFL Cup by Southampton, and failed to beat Chelsea in a must-win match for its title ambitions.

Liverpool's schedule doesn't get any easier in February. Next up for the Reds in the Premier League is a game at home to Tottenham Hotspur followed by a trip to Leicester City and an encounter with Arsenal at Anfield.
