Kyle Williams won't make an outright commitment just yet, but the veteran defensive tackle may have at least another year left in the tank.

After suggesting at the end of the 2016 campaign that he was uncertain about his future, the longtime Buffalo Bills defensive tackle appears to have a tentative plan that involves preparing as if he'll return for a 12th season.

"You know, I really haven't thought about it right now," Williams told Conor Orr of NFL.com after a Pro Bowl practice Friday. "Just been down here and the first few weeks of the offseason I've just tried to reconnect with my family and everything like that. But I always take a month or so off then I'll get back to preparing like I'm going to be back in Buffalo and I'm going to play. Talking with them, they want me back and I'm just going to prepare like I am. We'll see where we end up."

Williams indicated that he's already been in contact with new head coach Sean McDermott and some of his defensive assistants. As has been the case with many other players on the roster, the 33-year-old is encouraged by what's ahead for the organization.

"(McDermott) seems to be on top of things. He's asking me the right questions and he's had some great answers for me. I think he's going to do well."

Williams being scheduled for an $8.3-million cap hit in the third and final year of his contract complicates matters, as the Bills could save the vast majority of that amount by cutting ties.

Given the apparent mutual interest in his return, though, some sort of renegotiated contract that benefits both sides could certainly be on the table in the coming weeks.

Williams, a fifth-round pick in the 2006 draft, has spent his entire career with the Bills. After racking up another five quarterback takedowns this past season, he now ranks sixth among the franchise's all-time leaders with 40.5 sacks.
