Report: Terry wants to see out season amid Bournemouth interest

Chelsea veteran defender John Terry is ready to commit at least one more season to the Stamford Bridge faithful, but he knows he will have to work his socks off to get back in the first team.

The 36-year old told Chelsea that he does not want to leave the club in the January transfer window, reports the Telegraph's Matt Law.

Terry apparently made his feelings known after a string of clubs displayed interest in taking him on loan until the end of the season, with Bournemouth specifically reportedly knocking on the door.

The Cherries are looking to fill a hole with defender Nathan Ake going back to Chelsea after featuring 12 times for Bournemouth already this season.

The veteran's reportedly willing to give it his all over the next few months in order to rise up the ranks and regain his spot in the first team, but his path is far from clear-cut.

The ex-England captain has to serve a one-match ban for his red card against Peterborough in the FA Cup before he can even attempt to dislodge Conte's first-choice back three: David Luiz, Gary Cahill, and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Terry is arguably not even fourth in the pecking order, with Kurt Zouma returning to full fitness and Ake recalled from the south coast following a string of solid performances.

Though Terry would apparently rather swim upstream to force his way back into the Blues' starting lineup than entertain a move away from the Bridge, the Barking native's effort could be in vain - Chelsea is not expected to renew his contract in the summer and it may be open to lucrative offers from abroad.

If Terry can help his side win the Premier League title for the fifth time in his career, it would be an ideal way to say goodbye to the club he's been at since returning on loan from a brief stint at Nottingham Forest in 2000.
