Simply getting back to the playoffs for a second consecutive season may not be enough to secure Bill O'Brien's future in Houston.

Citing a poor fit with the general manager and organization as a whole, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported Sunday morning that an early playoff loss for the Texans could lead to the surprise departure of O'Brien.

Houston moving on from O'Brien after a pair of AFC South titles in his three years at the helm would easily stand as the most stunning coaching change of the offseason.

However, given the clear issues with the team, particularly on the offensive side, it's fair to suggest that the Texans would be in a much different position were it not for having the fortune of playing in a weak division.

O'Brien heads into Sunday's regular-season finale having posted a 27-20 record over his three-year run in Houston.

Given the potential he was thought to possess at the time of his hiring back in 2014 - making the transition back to the NFL after his work with the New England Patriots landed him the lead job at Penn State - the 47-year-old could instantly become a top candidate for other vacancies around the league.
