Report: Mavs may shop Bogut if playoff hopes fade
The Dallas Mavericks have no intentions of tanking the season, but here they are at the bottom of the standings.
Battling injuries to Dirk Nowitzki and other key rotation pieces, the Mavericks own the worst record in the league at the quarter-mark of the season. Should they continue to toil in the league's basement, the team could look to move its veteran pieces.
Andrew Bogut, for one, could be put on the block if the playoffs are out of reach for the Mavericks, sources told Tim MacMahon of ESPN. But as of right now, however, Dallas remains committed to Bogut as it looks to salvage the season.
Bogut is expected to fetch a first-round pick, sources told MacMahon.
The 32-year-old Australian center is slated to earn $11 million this season before becoming a free agent next summer. When healthy, Bogut is a premier rim protector who is also adept at passing out of the high post. He was named to the All-Defensive second team two seasons ago.
