Report: Orioles prepared to move on from Trumbo
Following a breakout year in Baltimore, Mark Trumbo appears to be moving on from the Orioles.
General manager Dan Duquette said Sunday that the club has made multiple offers to Trumbo's camp but were unable to finalize a deal. On Monday, the Orioles reportedly perceived that talks with Trumbo remain far apart, and are prepared to pursue other options, sources told Buster Olney of ESPN.
It's believed the Orioles offered a four-year deal, with discussions moving in the $70-million-to-$75-million range, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN.
Trumbo hit .256/.316/.533 with a major-league leading 47 home runs in 159 games last season. It was the third time that he's hit at least 30 homers in a season.
The Rockies have also been rumored to be interested in Trumbo and could use him at first base. The 30-year-old appeared in 95 games in right field for the Orioles but is not a strong defender.
