Report: Indians shopping for first baseman

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Indians' to-do list includes getting a first baseman at the Winter Meetings.

According to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports, the Indians have shown interest in several available first basemen including Mike Napoli, Mitch Moreland, Adam Lind, and Chris Carter.

As it stands, Cleveland is without a first baseman since Napoli became a free agent. While it would be ideal to get him back, the club would much rather Carlos Santana - who can also play the position - sticks at the designated hitter spot.

Player Age 2016 Slash 2016 Club
Mike Napoli 35 .239/.335/.465 Indians
Mitch Moreland 31 .233/.298/.422 Rangers
Adam Lind 33 .239/.286/.431 Mariners
Chris Carter 29 .222/.321/.499 Brewers

Of the four players mentioned, Napoli is likely the most ideal. Aside from having arguably the best offensive season of his career in 2016, he would give the club continuity by slotting back into his role.

That being said, having Napoli or Carter would add a right-handed bat to a lefty-heavy lineup.
