Want-away Draxler accepts boos from Wolfsburg supporters

Wolfsburg midfielder Julian Draxler reaffirmed his desire to join another club in the January transfer window after being jeered by his own fans during Saturday's 3-2 loss to Hertha Berlin.

The 23-year-old previously expressed his intention to leave in the summer window, but the club prevented him from doing so. The fallout from Draxler's comments saw him receive audible boos when he came on at Volkswagen-Arena.

"I don't think I need to tell anybody what that does to a person - it certainly doesn't help you," Draxler said of his frosty reception, as quoted by ESPN FC by way of Kicker.

"There's no doubt it makes it hard for you to perform on the field.

"I can understand the fans, though. They have every right to do that. I said in the summer the way I feel and I stand by that."

The Germany international has been limited to 11 Bundesliga appearances this season for Valerien Ismael's 15th-placed side, and has now been reduced to a bench role. Consiering Draxler has one eye on the exit door, he knows he's not guaranteed to start anytime soon.

"I have to accept that," Draxler said. "The coach doesn't need to explain it to me. From a purely sporting point of view, it's understandable too, but there's not much more to say about it."
