Cavs' Frye announces father's death less than 1 month after mother's

Cleveland Cavaliers big man Channing Frye announced on his Instagram account Thursday that his father, Thomas Frye, died on Thanksgiving.

The cause of death is currently unknown.

The somber news comes less than a month after Frye lost his mother, Karen, to cancer following her extended battle with the disease.

The 33-year-old missed two games at the start of the 2016-17 season to be with his family as a result. He's been excused from the Cavaliers and will not be in the lineup on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.
