Montreal Canadiens defenseman Nathan Beaulieu was taken to hospital as a precaution after leaving Tuesday's game, the team announced.
Beaulieu appeared to take a puck to the neck or throat area after it rolled up his stick while he was defending a Derick Brassard shot attempt.
Beaulieu had recorded one goal and five assists in 19 games prior to Tuesday.
